What is a Unicode SMS?

Modified on Tue, 10 Sep at 8:02 PM

Unicode SMS is one that contains a symbol or character not present in the GSM alphabet, such as accents, emojis, etc. These messages have a maximum capacity of up to 70 characters by encoding each character with more bits.

In the section Services and credits by country you can consult the cost in credits of a Unicode SMS according to the destination country. It is also possible to check the unit price of an SMS in the Prices section of our website. All WebSMS sending forms indicate the type of SMS to be sent and the credits that each sending will consume.

It is possible to send concatenated Unicode SMS that the recipient will receive as a single message. But that will have a unit cost for each segment or part.

More information about the cost can be found in What is the price of an SMS message?
